This of it this way: how much you should train should be what you can fit in your life, regardless of how busy you get. Holidays and celebrations happen, but you want to make sure you can enjoy those AND still keep getting stronger in the gym.⠀

For my clients and myself, we tend to agree that 3-4 days a week is the right amount of days. 3-4 days of training a week allow for constant improvement but also to makes sure you aren't giving up anything else in your life. ⠀

Looking for a quick way to burn lots of calories and get in a solid workout?  This is one of my favourite go-to quick workouts to do at the gym or at home.

Skipping has and I think always will be one of my favourite ways to get a good cardio workout.  Full body workout and I always have fun playing around with the footwork too!! Always challenging myself to go faster or for longer before I whip my shins with the rope.

BUT...Every May I make a long list of all the things I want to accomplish and every July I'm shocked by how little time I really have to get it all done.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And I know I'm not the only one. Because holy cow...summer is BUSY!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sure...some like me may have more time to spend together because weekends aren't filled with things like hockey and cheer.  But... having the kids home, as amazing as it is, presents us with all kinds of challenges because we are pulled in many different directions.  We have a tendency to stay up later.  Our attention is pulled in different directions with last minute invitations to festivals and BBQ's.  Sipping cool drinks on the patio is a nice way to spend a hot afternoon.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And it may make you want to throw in the towel  when it comes to your goals. I am there myself.  I find myself frustrated (and even angry with myself)  because I'm not accomplishing all that I set out to do.  And then I think "screw it...I'll go hard in September."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm here to tell you...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You have worked so hard and come so far to get to this point.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My biggest lesson so far this summer is that I need to 𝐀𝐃𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐘 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe your progress for the summer is to simply maintain where you are at! That is a great thing to do.  Completely realistic while allowing yourself to enjoy all that summer has to offer.  It's not a setback...keeping status quo can still be considered progress when the past would have had you sliding back into old habits.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's a great time to stick with your coach/trainer, and an even better time to start with one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But... having the kids home, as amazing as it is, presents us with all kinds of challenges because we are pulled in many different directions. We have a tendency to stay up later. Our attention is pulled in different directions with last minute invitations to festivals and BBQ's. Sipping cool drinks on the patio is a nice way to spend a hot afternoon.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And it may make you want to throw in the towel when it comes to your goals. I am there myself. I find myself frustrated (and even angry with myself) because I'm not accomplishing all that I set out to do. And then I think "screw it...I'll go hard in September."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe your progress for the summer is to simply maintain where you are at! That is a great thing to do. Completely realistic while allowing yourself to enjoy all that summer has to offer. It's not a setback...keeping status quo can still be considered progress when the past would have had you sliding back into old habits.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It's a great time to stick with your coach/trainer, and an even better time to start with one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When I decided that I wanted to try mountain biking 🚵‍♀️, there was no testing the waters!  I signed up for a woman's ride group and bought a very nice bike...𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐓!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Crazy right?  Good thing I fell in love with it from the very first day. 🤣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When it comes to changing habits...this isn't the approach that I'd recommend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When working with clients who want to make some significant changes in their lives, I break everything down  and focus on one step at a time to avoid that feeling of "holy crap...that's a lot of change!". The ultimate goal is to make healthy changes for life without leaving you flustered and ready to throw your hands in the air and run. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These supers got the best of me after some dead’s! 🔥 For hyperextensions, if you’re feeling it more in your lower back vs your glutes/hamstrings, make sure your chin is tucked (like you have multiple chins 😂) & almost creating a small arch in your upper back. This should shut your lumbar off & you should feel a big difference. Your welcome babe. 🥰

So, here’s the reason for this post.... Today, we want to update you regarding a new fitness challenge going viral in India and abroad.

Our Head Coach, Jasbinder Gulati SFG1, who thought of it and started this challenge gave it the name "Bottoms up Kettlebell save water challenge" With the hashtag #bottomsupkettlebellsavewaterchallenge. 
So, why "save water"? This you can understand better by reading what our friend and StrongFirst India family member Bharathi Gnanadesigan wrote in his post, " The water crisis is real. In Chennai, we have been rationed to 4 to 5 buckets a day for a family. The quality of the water is slowly deteriorating. This summer is a wake-up call for us (especially us - Chennaites). From water management to actively and politically getting involved in the positive changes - it is a long road ahead. " There have been news about Hyderabad running out of drinking water supply in less than 48 days. This is just the beginning and if we don’t become conscious about saving water now, soon we won’t have any water to save.

Coach Jasbinder also wanted to highlight the benefits of using kettlebells for enhancing overall strength and improving the quality of human movement by learning and practicing "Turkish Get-ups"; with “Bottoms up Kettlebell" in particular. 
This challenge aims to create awareness among people about saving water and at the same time, inspire them to become healthier and stronger using Kettlebells, and StrongFirst Strength Principles. 
We have been a part of @StrongFirst India family for a few years now and using the @strongfirst Strength principles seen major Strength gains in all our members. We wish for you too, to learn these principles to achieve all your fitness goals for a better quality of life and achieve Peak performance in your chosen Sports. •

So, why "save water"? This you can understand better by reading what our friend and StrongFirst India family member Bharathi Gnanadesigan wrote in his post, " The water crisis is real. In Chennai, we have been rationed to 4 to 5 buckets a day for a family. The quality of the water is slowly deteriorating. This summer is a wake-up call for us (especially us - Chennaites). From water management to actively and politically getting involved in the positive changes - it is a long road ahead. " There have been news about Hyderabad running out of drinking water supply in less than 48 days. This is just the beginning and if we don’t become conscious about saving water now, soon we won’t have any water to save.

Coach Jasbinder also wanted to highlight the benefits of using kettlebells for enhancing overall strength and improving the quality of human movement by learning and practicing "Turkish Get-ups"; with “Bottoms up Kettlebell" in particular.
This challenge aims to create awareness among people about saving water and at the same time, inspire them to become healthier and stronger using Kettlebells, and StrongFirst Strength Principles.
We have been a part of @StrongFirst India family for a few years now and using the @strongfirst Strength principles seen major Strength gains in all our members. UPPER BODY EXPLOSION (Chest edition)

Here are 4 chest workouts that’ll EXPLODE your chest

1. DUMBBELL PRESS

4setsx12reps, 10, 8, 6

My GO-TO chest workout

There is one important CHEST ACTIVATION CUE when doing this exercise.

You MUST keep your elbows TUCKED IN at a 45 degree angle, NOT flared out

I call this chicken winging😂

This makes sure your chest is doing MOST of the work, NOT your shoulders

2. INCLINE DUMBBELL PRESS

4x12, 10, 8, 6

The incline dumbbell press targets the UPPER chest

In the video you’ll notice how my UPPER chest SQUEEZES at the top of my lift

This will give you that FULL, ROUNDED chest look

3. WIDE CHEST MACHINE

4x12, 10, 8, 6

My FAVORITE machine

This workout targets your LOWER chest

Notice how I HOLD and SQUEEZE at the top of my lift

If you do enough repetitions of this, you’ll notice that your chest will start developing a CRESCENT 🌙  shape

4. WEIGHTED DIPS

4x8, 8, 8, 8

DON’T be discouraged if you can’t do dips with a weight

This took me a couple YEARS until I was able to add weight

Start with body weight, then work your way up by holding a dumbbell in between your legs

The IMPORTANT part is that you LEAN FORWARD so your targeting your LOWER chest

Doing these workouts will have your chest BURSTING OUT OF YOUR SHIRT
